Annual art and writing contest celebrates creativity, storytelling and self-expression among North Texas adults 55+

The 26th annual CC Young Spirit Is Ageless Art & Writing Contest is now accepting entries from adults age 55 and older across North Texas. Featuring visual art and writing categories, the contest celebrates creativity, lifelong learning, and self-expression. Winning and selected entries will be displayed in The Point Gallery during the 2026 exhibition and awards ceremony.

CC Young Senior Living has appointed Shallen Mirzababa, RN, as its new Administrator of Home Healthcare, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare to older adults throughout the North Texas community.

CC Young Senior Living continues to raise the bar for rehabilitation excellence with Physical Therapist Katie Jackson, PT, DPT, GCS, earning her Geriatric Board Certification, a prestigious and rigorous credential that recognizes advanced clinical knowledge and expertise in caring for older adults. The American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) coordinates and oversees the specialist certification process.

What most people see as discarded plastic grocery bags and bad for the environment, the CC Young “Happy Hookers” see as an opportunity to repurpose and help others in need. Since 2016, a volunteer group at CC Young has transformed thousands of plastic bags into handmade 6’ x 3’ sleeping mats for people experiencing homelessness across North Texas.

This year, CC Young will host 55 resident veterans with nine days of festivities to ensure the those who served – both residents and staff – understand the deep appreciation and respect CC Young has for them.
