DALLAS (July 29, 2024)CC Young Senior Living announced it has launched its PATHWAYS program to care for the growing need among older adults who are experiencing mild cognitive decline but are not ready  to enter full memory support. PATHWAYS is designed as a bridge for CC Young assisted living residents who need a little extra structure and assistance with daily living activities.

“Research has shown that a guided program like PATHWAYS can slow cognitive decline and help individuals maintain engagement and function,” said Russell Crews, CC Young president and CEO. “Our PATHWAYS program fills a real need by providing these residents with personal interaction, and physical and emotional support to enhance their overall wellness and quality of life in a joyful, engaging environment.”

According to Nena Paris, CC Young administrator, assisted living and memory support, it is not uncommon to see residents who are beginning to experience cognitive decline to increasingly stay in their apartments and isolate themselves, even with the encouragement of staff.

PATHWAYS residents will live on the same floor as other residents in The Hillside, one of CC Young’s assisted living resident buildings, and have a dedicated, trained Certified Nursing Assistant, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week as well as a Life Enrichment Director, responsible for creating structured activities that are cognitively stimulating and draw on the Seven Pillars of Wellness. Daily, the nursing staff will direct PATHWAYS residents to meals and scheduled events. Downtime is filled with additional guided activities that can include exercise, music, art, guest speakers and book reviews, as well as activities that are tailored to personal interests.
