CC Young Senior Living announces annual call for entries for its Spirit is Ageless Art & Writing Contest for Adults 55+

DALLAS (July 16, 2026) — It is well-known that Dallas enjoys a national reputation for having a vibrant arts community, as evidenced by its USA Today ranking in 2025 as a top 10 best arts district in the U.S. for the second consecutive year. But the support for the arts is not limited to a specific area of town. In fact, East Dallas is rich in arts and culture, which includes the annual CC Young Senior Living Spirit Is Ageless Art & Writing Contest. Now in its 26th year, CC Young is again inviting adults 55 and over to contribute their artistic talents to the annual contest and exhibit.
Online registration begins Saturday, Aug. 1, with entry drop-off taking place Tuesday, Aug. 18 and Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at The Point on the CC Young campus, located at 4847 West Lawther Drive in Dallas.
The contest is open to CC Young Residents and members of the general public age 55 and better. All submitted work must have been created by the person entering the piece at age 55 or older. CC Young Residents may submit up to two entries at no cost. All other community participants are limited to one complimentary entry with the option to submit one additional entry for a $10 fee payable at drop-off. Written entries must be no more than four, double-spaced pages in 12-point font.

All Spirit Is Ageless 2026 Art & Writing Contest entries will be on display for the general public in The Point Gallery through the awards ceremony on October 23.

Since its launch in 1999, Spirit Is Ageless has become a meaningful tradition for CC Young and the North Texas community, celebrating creativity, self-expression and storytelling among older adults. In a city known for its rich arts culture, the annual contest gives this population the opportunity to share their work and be part of a community-wide celebration of creativity.
“I used to think creativity belonged only to the experts. But I’ve learned that art, writing, and photography are really about being present,” said Brian Parman, CC Young director, Resident & Community Engagement. “A painting captures feelings words cannot quite reach; a story gives a voice to the quiet experiences we carry inside; and a photograph freezes a fleeting moment of beauty we might otherwise walk right past. When we create—and find the courage to share it—we are offering a piece of our world to someone else, proving that our stories matter and that we never truly stop discovering who we are.”
