DALLAS (June 12, 2025) – Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Spirit Is Ageless 2025 Art & Writing Contest returns to CC Young Senior Living, inviting older adults across the Dallas-Fort Worth area to showcase their creativity and submit original art and writing creations. Since its launch in 1999, this beloved competition has become a cultural touchstone, shining a spotlight on the powerful, often untold stories and talents that flourish later in life, reminding us that creativity knows no age limits.

Online registration begins Friday, Aug. 1, with entry drop-offs taking place on Tuesday, Aug. 19 and Wednesday, Aug. 20 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at The Point on the CC Young campus, located at 4847 West Lawther Drive in Dallas. All entries will be included in The Spirit Is Ageless exhibition, which will be on display through the awards program on Friday, Oct. 24.

“For 25 years, the Spirit is Ageless Art & Writing Contest has engaged hundreds of artists annually, rewriting society’s expectations about aging through brushstrokes and words,” says Brian Parman, director of The Point & Pavilion. “This event reminds us it is never too late to surprise yourself. We’ve seen people pick up a paintbrush, pen, or camera for the very first time in their 70s or 80s and uncover a whole new side of themselves. This contest is about giving those discoveries a place to shine.”

Whether it is a first effort or the continuation of a lifelong craft, each submission brings something unique to the gallery. The exhibition honors the act of expression at every stage of life. Together the works form a meaningful collection that reflects the depth and diversity of the community. To be eligible, all work must have been created at age 55 or better by the person entering the piece. CC Young residents may submit up to two entries at no cost while all other community participants are limited to one complimentary entry, with the option to submit one additional entry for a $10 fee payable at drop-off. Written entries must be no more than four, double-spaced pages in 12-point font.
