Nicia Wasson, LVN/CDP | ADMINISTRATOR, PRIVATE CARE AND THE CLINIC AT CC YOUNG

Following a demanding 10-year career working as a full-time mother raising three children, Nicia changed course and returned to school to earn her Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) degree. Graduating from Trinity Valley Community College in 2011, she was top in the class in the cumulative number of points received for her performance in each of the curriculum’s requirements. After receiving her LNV, Nicia became accredited as a Certified Dementia Practitioner. Her career experience includes working as a psychiatric nurse, charge nurse in skilled nursing, and a geriatric home health nurse for 10 years.

Her love for working and talking with seniors drew her to CC Young in 2020 when she joined our Community Services team as supervisor of our Private Care.

“Our seniors, both on- and off-campus, have so much wisdom from life experiences and very interesting stories to share. I have heard touching stories from WWI and WWII veterans, and also from a nurse who was working in the ER the day when President Kennedy shot.”

In 2022, Nicia was promoted to Administrator and continues to lead a team of 75 caregivers, comprised of LVNs, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) who continue the mission to care for residents on the CC Young campus and the 13 counties in North Texas where the Community Services team is licensed to serve.

She believes the executive team is genuine, approachable and cares about every team member and resident. “There’s a great, caring attitude throughout the campus.”
