CC Young Launches Grief Support Group for All

December 11, 2019 | CC Young General

We all know that a regular part of life is dealing with the loss of loved ones. But logic doesn’t seem to make these hurts any easier, especially when someone dearly loved dies. That’s why CC Young has launched a special group called Hope for the Heart, led by our own Rev. Raelynn Scott.

Rev. Scott, CC Young’s Hospice Chaplain and Bereavement Coordinator knows a lot about grief, both personally and professionally. She says that losing a loved one can:

  • Keep us up at night
  • Affect our eating patterns
  • Cause confusion and an inability to focus
  • Begin a slide into a prolonged depression
  • Believing that grief will go away by itself often lets it swell up on the inside and cause all kinds of life disruptions

“When faced with grief, it’s far better to acknowledge it, embrace it, learn about it and share it with others in a supportive, safe atmosphere. This helps us to move toward healing and wholeness.

“From my experience, much more healing occurs in people’s lives when they push aside their fears and reach out, than when they are isolated in their grief.”

Grief support sessions occur every second and fourth Tuesday of the month, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Lawther Point East building, Family Conference Room on level 2.*

Everyone is welcome: residents and their family members, staff and the public.

If you have questions, call Rev. Scott at 214-827-2845.

*Directions: After entering our campus at 4847 West Lawther Drive, the Lawther Point East Building is the first building on the left. Make an immediate left for visitor parking and to enter the building. Visitor parking also is located elsewhere on campus.
