Russell Crews | PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
email: [email protected]
In 2008, Russell came to CC Young as chief financial officer and five years later, in 2013, was promoted to president and chief executive officer. Today, he leads a campus with more than 600 employees and 500-plus (and growing) residents.
Prior to joining CC Young, Russell’s career was in public accounting where he specialized in SEC-reporting, compliance, and bond and equity finances. Along the way, he also served as CFO of a public staffing company. A CPA by career, Russell earned a Master of Business Administration in finance from the University of North Texas and a Master of Arts in economics from Southern Methodist University. He also holds CASP designation as a Certified Aging Services Professional.
During his tenure as CC Young’s president and CEO, Russell has successfully led the $54 million and $130 million financing, permitting, development, and construction projects for The Overlook and The Vista, respectively. A huge fan of numbers, analytics, and technology, he has played an integral role in directing the substantial investment in updating CC Young’s technology and the tools used by residents and staff to improve business operations and daily life on campus, which has included upgrading the on-campus television studio to provide campus-wide broadcasts of events and news during- and post-COVID.
With a reputation for instilling accountability and fiscal responsibility in his team, Russell’s mantras “Inspect what you expect,” and “It’s never final,” are imbedded in everyone and every initiative he leads.
With his personal mission for enriching the lives of all who live at CC Young, Russell led and supported the teams who created and operate the on-campus clinic for residents; established a GIP Hospice program for residents and the community; and forged the three-year partnership with the University of North Texas to become the exclusive senior living location in Dallas to offer the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) program. His passion for golf and philanthropy were the driving forces in 2012 in establishing the CC Young annual golf tournament to raise funds for the CC Young Benevolence Fund. To date, the annual, sold-out event has raised more than $1 million.
A proven leader in the senior living industry, Russell has served on the board of LeadingAge Texas and as the North Texas Network Representative, chairing the Regional Networking Committee in 2017 and 2018. In addition, he has served on the boards of several Dallas-area for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.
