As Resident Advocate, Dess represents the residents in expressing their unresolved issues and concerns to the departments involved and management, and helps bring them to a solution. An employee for over ten years, she gets to know all parties and works with the residents to keep them happy. She also makes rounds in the Health Center regarding care, food and other experiences. After patient discharge, she follows up with the resident or family member inquiring about perceived care and suggestions for future care. Rounding this out, she also oversees several special programs and campus enhancement projects. Dess began her career as a Certified Medical Secretary. She was Employee of the Year in 2012. More recently, Dess received her Texas certification in mediation.
