Barbara Marcum | Campus Pastor

Barbara Marcum joins CC Young with extensive faith and pastoral experience.  She has been the pastor of two churches and an associate pastor at four other churches.  She was recruited to serve as the first woman (volunteer) chaplain of the Dallas Police Department and later recruited by the FBI to serve for seventeen years as one of the first woman clergy in its Chaplain ranks.  Barbara served as a minister at Highland Park UMC for 25 years where she headed the Pastoral Care Department.  She was involved in jail and prison ministry for many years, teaching regularly at several men’s prisons.  She helped in the formation of the first UMC in Saratov, Russian.  Currently she volunteers at the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum and is active in the Park Cities Rotary Club.

When not serving the residents of CCY, Barbara loves to be in the pool before the start of the work day.  Barbara likes to travel (mountains or seaside), study foreign languages, read history and biographies.  Barbara is married to Rev. Walt Marcum, and they are the parents of an adult daughter, Melissa, and grandparents to Annabelle and Emma.  Barbara has lived in the ‘M Streets’ area of Dallas for thirty years.  Barbara loves White Rock Lake and can be found kayaking there on mild days.  When it’s time for sweets, she can be found enjoying mint chocolate chip ice cream, one of her favorite treats!
