Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I consider a philanthropic gift to C. C. Young?
At C. C. Young, our vision is of a community and society where all of life is valued. If we are to fulfill our vision, we need financial resources to provide ample opportunities for the aged to continue to discover personal growth and creativity, no matter their limitations. It is only through philanthropy that we opened The Point, The Center for Arts & Education, to all seniors in the Dallas area.
In today’s society, human needs far outstrip the capabilities of individuals, families and the government; however, through philanthropy we are able to offer benevolent care to those who outlive their financial resources.
Today, C. C. Young continues to be a leader in the field of long-term care for the elderly. In its Vision and Mission,
C. C. Young has defined itself as a pacesetter in the field of long term care. C. C. Young leadership and the supporting community have created a world where older persons are valued and all of life has developmental opportunities. At the same time, the leadership has faced barriers to achieve these opportunities including isolation resulting from the breakdown of family and support systems, diminishing governmental support, more chronic disease in the rapidly aging population, negative public perception of growing old and increasing operational costs.
C. C. Young has a vision and is building a community that doesn’t focus exclusively on ratios, margins and government funding. Rather the focus is healthy, vibrant minds, bodies and spirits. We believe it’s not about luxury so much as secure, healthy comfortable surroundings. A community that cares about the individual and their family knows who they were, are and what they want to still become. We are honored to be a partner in this phase of their journey. People choose to live at C. C. Young because they want to be a part of the community of caring.
C. C. Young is proud to be home to professors, physicians, school teachers, homemakers, bus drivers, community volunteers, ministers, missionaries, attorneys, farmers, mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, sisters, brothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles and great-grandparents. All have needs, wants, dreams and capabilities.
C. C. Young recognizes that stretching to improve our societal response to changing needs is risky; yet C. C. Young must position itself to fill the gap between older people and their multiple unmet needs. This positioning will be achieved through planning and courageous leadership.
Change cannot be achieved without risk. Neither can it be realized without support. C. C. Young’s vision pushes the organization to push for a changing delivery of services to address the changing needs of our population. Our opportunity and challenge is to motivate our community to support this well respected organization to the greater fulfillment of its Mission and purpose of providing standard-setting care for older people.
